Future forms

English has no single „future tense” — you pick the form by whether it's a decision, a plan, or a prediction.

will

A1will + base verb

A decision made right now, a promise, an offer, or a prediction with no evidence.

Examples
  • I'll help you.
    PLPomogę ci.
    decision made now
  • It will rain tomorrow.
    PLJutro będzie padać.
  • I think she'll like it.
    PLMyślę, że jej się spodoba.
Common mistake

I will to call you.I will call you.

After „will” the verb is in its base form, no „to”: „I will call”, not „I will to call”.

going to

A2am / is / are going to + base verb

A plan or intention decided earlier, or a prediction based on what you can see now.

Examples
  • We're going to travel this summer.
    PLTego lata będziemy podróżować.
    a plan made earlier
  • Look at those clouds — it's going to rain.
PLSpójrz na te chmury — będzie padać.
    evidence right now

Present Continuous for the future

A2am / is / are + verb-ing

Fixed arrangements with a set time or place — as if already in the calendar.

Examples
  • I'm meeting Sara at six.
PLSpotykam się z Sarą o szóstej.
    an arrangement
  • We're flying to Rome on Friday.
    PLW piątek lecimy do Rzymu.

Present Simple for timetables

B1present simple (schedules)

For timetables and schedules — things fixed by an official plan.

Examples
  • The train leaves at nine.
    PLPociąg odjeżdża o dziewiątej.
    timetable → present simple
  • The shop opens at ten tomorrow.
PLSklep otwiera się jutro o dziesiątej.

Future Perfect & Continuous

B2will have (been) + …

„Future perfect” says something will be done before a point; „continuous” stresses duration.

Examples
  • By Friday I'll have finished.
    PLDo piątku skończę.
    done before a point
  • By June she'll have been working here for ten years.
PLW czerwcu minie dziesięć lat, odkąd tu pracuje.
